Swimsuit Guidelines (Suggestions)

We can not find any formal swimsuit guidelines in writing from the state pageant, but we have our own suggestions for the Jacksonville/First Coast Pageants as follows.

You may wear a one piece or two piece swimsuit. It has been a problem in the past that some local pageant contestants are selecting suits that are not good choices (example: too skimpy, too much cleavage, cut too low on the bottoms, etc.). You will not be allowed to wear a swimsuit that is too revealing and the pageant committee will be reviewing your wardrobe to make sure that they are appropriate for competition in this pageant. If you have concerns about your suit choice, get with a pageant official sooner than later. Remember, we are looking for someone who is physically fit, confident and poised. A conservative swimsuit can still show off those qualities. We are going for a clean-cut All-American look, not a sexy look.

You can not wear pantyhose in this competition and should not wear oil on your legs. This is not a bodybuilding competition. A light lotion will give you a healthy glow and keep your skin from looking dry.

You can not wear a string bikini (or a string anything) and can not wear a thong (obviously). Even though hip-hugger style swimsuits are in style, don't chose a suit that comes too low underneath the belly button and is too skimpy that way.  Also, some hip-hugger style suits will make you look more hippy, so beware. You'll need to have full coverage over your rump. A swimsuit does not have to be one color, and should be a real swimsuit that you would wear for your age. A reasonably priced off-the-rack swimsuit is suggested. For shoes, a clear heeled shoe or a skin-tone heeled sandal or pump works best.

When in doubt, think about what your family would appreciate seeing you compete in. Chances are you will make a safe choice if you think about Grandma and Grandpa watching.
