FACTS:
Talent is required to be 2 minutes or less (a Miss America
requirement), props restricted and discouraged, no accompanist -
only soundtracks. MUST turn in TWO copies (CDs preferred) of
your talent music.
Evening wear competition includes two on-stage questions. This
pageant recommends minimizing costs and buying "off the rack" if
possible.
All meetings, rehearsals, and interviews are mandatory
unless otherwise authorized by a pageant official, in particular the
executive directors. All contestants must be on time. Failure to
attend all mandatory events may result in expulsion from the
pageant.
Two 5 x 7 headshot photos required; no crown;
interview suit suggested, can be black/white or color. Photo shoots
can be scheduled in groups if enough contestants are interested well
enough in advance. Contact Executive Directors in this regard.
Fact sheet, introductions, contract, all paperwork, and
talent CDs - DUE 11/01/05, but turn in sooner if possible!
Birth Certificate Due ASAP/now!
Competition wardrobe must be approved by a pageant official, can
be reviewed at the early rehearsals, or the dress rehearsal.
No PARENTS, FAMILY, HAIRDRESSERS, MAKE UP ARTISTS, or COACHES
allowed backstage. The pageant will provide some assistance with
hair and make-up. Contestants are encouraged to use this as a
learning experience to do such things for themselves. At the state
pageant, they are responsible for getting themselves ready!
No CAMERAS or VIDEOS are allowed during the competition. The
pageant will have a photographer & videographer, and you will be
allowed to buy packages in advance.
All tickets and money must be turned in by November 27, 2005
(the last rehearsal, one week before the pageant), preferably
sooner. You are personally responsible for any lost tickets or
ticket money.
As a teen contestant, you are required to obtain a sponsor to be
in this competition. Please refer to the advertising/sponsorship
form for more details. Sponsors help to fund the scholarship and
help to put on the event with their support. They are well promoted
by the pageant in return in the program book, by our emcees, and on
the pageant website. Awards given for getting the most
sponsors, advertisers, and patrons.
The North Florida Scholarship Organization, Inc. or pageant
staff of the Miss Jacksonville Teen /First Coast Teen Pageant will
offer special assistance, training, and wardrobing tips to those
contestants who obtain their own sponsors. SPECIAL NOTE: Once you
have made a commitment with a sponsor, you will then be offered
assistance and training in interview, wardrobe, etc. Upon obtaining
your own sponsor, you can then make your talent selection and
request a tentative contestant line-up number. The Miss America
system does not require the Pageant to offer any training in
interview, makeup, or wardrobing.
PROOF OF RESIDENCE must be provided in the form of copies of 2
of the following: current Fla. driver's license or Florida auto
registration issued at least 6 months, current voters registration
card or written statement from the voting registrar of valid current
registration in the Jacksonville area or within the designated
radius, current lease in the contestant's name for housing in the
Jacksonville area or within the designated radius, current utility
bills in the contestant's name showing residence in the Jacksonville
area or within the designated radius. The above should indicate your
residence in the pageant area for at least 6 months prior to the
pageant date.
